Fertility MD Guilty of Impregnating Patients. His Punishment? "Go Home"
An Indianapolis physician who secretly used his own sperm to impregnate unknowing patients will receive no prison time for his sexual fun and games.
This particular medical maniac by the name of Doctor Donald Cline, a fertility specialist, was gifted with a 12-month suspended sentence by Marion Superior Court Judge Helen Marchal on December 14, Cline had changed his 'not guilty' plea to 'guilty' to two counts of Obstruction of Justice for lying to investigators.
The well-known doctor, age 79, who retired in 2009, is believed by law enforcement to actually have impregnated at least two-dozen women a decade, all of whom believed the sperm donors were anonymous.
The Indiana State Attorney General’s Office started investigating Cline in 2014, after two adult children of Cline’s former patients filed complaints.
The adult children told law enforcement that, in researching their ancestry, they'd submitted their DNA to a private company. Their DNA matched several other people. An investigation revealed their mothers had been patients of Cline.
When questioned, Cline lied to investigators.
“I can emphatically say that at no time did I ever use my own sample for insemination."
In the wickedly wild world of medicine, that's what we call the "Liar, Liar, pants on fire" response.
After the trial, the prosecution stated they were not able to charge the dastardly doc for the secret impregnations because the state of Indiana has no law against MDs using their own sperm.
Because if we've learned anything at all about physician misbehavior, it's this;
The easiest way to get off with flat-out evil in society, is to be able to scribe "MD" after your name.
