Another Day, Another Physician Off to Jail For Being Stupid. Tomorrow There'll be More

A Long Beach California physician has changed his 'Not Guilty' plea to "No Contest" this week, to a felony act of sending pornographic photos to an undercover detective, whom he believed was a teenage girl.

Doctor Jonathon Hagar Ellis, age 35, was sentenced to 3 months in county jail; is now labeled as a sex offender, and was ordered to undergo 12 months of sex offender counseling, according to Deputy District Attorney Angela Brunson. Without the no contest plea, the doctor was facing 6 years in state prison, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Detectives testified that Ellis sent lewd photos of himself last January to an undercover L.A. Police Department detective, who posed online as a 16-year-old high school girl. He also sent messages in an attempt to meet her for sexual encounters, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

Ellis was arrested on April 11 and then released on $85,000 bail.

Before his arrest, Ellis was employed at the College Medical Center Residents, located at 2776 Pacific Avenue, Long Beach. 90806 (562) 595-1911
